Mozilla-Google Partnership Extends for 3 more years

Google and Mozilla have signed a new agreement which will extend Google’s role as default search provider in Mozilla Firefox. This news has come in the middle of rumors about the possible parting of ways for both the companies. Google is one of the main sources of revenue of Mozilla and has played the role of default search provider since the beginning of Firefox project. This deal will be valid for next three years.

The official website of Mozilla states,”We’re pleased to announce that we have negotiated a significant and mutually beneficial revenue agreement with Google. This new agreement extends our long term search relationship with Google for at least three additional years.”

Chief Executive Office of Mozilla, Gary Kovacs, said in a statement,” Under this multi-year agreement, Google Search will continue to be the default search provider for hundreds of millions of Firefox users around the world.”

According to Alan Eustace, Senior Vice President of Search, Google,”“Mozilla has been a valuable partner to Google over the years and we look forward to continuing this great partnership in the years to come.”

Though these statement from both the companies sound cool, but neither Google nor Mozilla has disclosed the terms of the agreement.

Most of the users across the globe are not aware of the fact that Mozilla and Google are partners. And since Firefox and Google Chrome are the most widely used web browsers, the deal between these two tech giants promises new and great features in their respective web browsers. Though it is true that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has still got a large user base, but most of the users are either shifting or have shifted to these two browsers. That leaves us with Apple’s Safari. As a matter of fact, Safari indeed is a good browser but in comparison to Firefox or Chrome, it is still an infant.
