Samsung has added more fuel to its never ending patent war against Apple Inc by filing new claims in the patent infringement case against Cupertino, California based company. The hearing of this case is currently being held in a German court which said that it will consider these claims separately from the lawsuit filed in the month of April this year. There are 4 claims in total and one of them deals with emoticons.
A Samsung spokesperson confirmed this news and said that the South Korean manufacturer of electronic goods has added 4 patents to the ongoing lawsuit against Apple. Two of these patents are standard related patents and the other two are utility related patents. Basically, this whole lawsuit was against the said patent infringement done by Apple Inc in the field of telecommunications standard technology WCDMA for 3G mobile handsets.
Apart from this, Samsung now has a chip on its shoulder as an Australian court lifted up the ban on Samsung’s Galaxy range of products in Australia. This has opened new grounds for Galaxy products and the overall sales of Samsung will increase for sure. On the other hand, Samsung had a bad time in Paris as a court ruled in favor of Apple Inc’s claims this time.
The most funny part in this whole battle of patents is that though these tech giants want a ban for each other’s products, at the same time, both are business partners. Apple Inc’s A5 chips are manufactured in Samsung’s factories and Apple is one of the biggest clients of Samsung. Despite of this relationship, both desperately want to beat each other in the tech sector.
According to us, the competition should be healthy. None of these giants should play these low standard games as they have an image in the mind of people and by playing such games, they are tarnishing their own image.
