PlayStation Vita is now Available in Japan

Finally, good news has arrived for the PlayStation fans in Japan. One of the most awaited products of 2011 has finally hit the stores in Japan. Yes, we are talking about PlayStation Vita, which has been dubbed by many as the future of the gaming consoles. PlayStation Vita is a hand-held gaming console developed by Sony Corp. which hit the stores earlier today. A large number of people were lined up in front of the stores since the early morning.

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan President Hiroshi Kono said that he was very happy as their product was being welcomed by a large number of people. And why shouldn’t he be? Sony has reported losses upto $1 billion this year. Seeing the grand welcome of PlayStation Vita by fans, Sony expects its sales can boost up because of this product and it will finally be able to cover up the losses.

PlayStation Vita has a touch user interface and is the successor of PlayStation Portable(PSP). Users can connect their devices over mobile networks and WI-fi hotspots and play multi player games easily.

Vita’s launch is the biggest launch ever since the launch of PlayStation 3. Vita is being seen by many as a big player in the field of hand-held gaming consoles and it is expected that it will pose a bug threat to the existing consoles, especially Nintendo 3DS.

Other features of Vita include two cameras, one at the front and the other at the back, a touch pad at the back and two knob like joysticks which can be used by gamers to play against each other using PS3 consoles.

It is true that Vita will face a serious competition from the smartphones and tablet PCs, both of which have revolutionized the field of gaming especially the iPad and the iPhone.

What do you think? Will Vita be able to beat its rivals?
