Google+ Crosses 40 Million Mark

Google+ has reported on Thursday that it now has more than 40 million members and thus gave proof that despite popular opinion, it has not died yet. A lot of tech blogs on the Internet are currently reporting that Google+ is no more due to the ever falling traffic on the site. But if the claims of Google+ are authentic, then we can guarantee you that Google+ is going nowhere and it may grow more if it keeps on its pace.

Google’s founder and current Chief Executive Office, Larry Page said on Thursday that Google+ is now 40 million big and it is presenting a tough challenge to its main rival and the social networking giant, Facebook.

In a press release, Larry Page said,“People are flocking into Google+ at an incredible rate and we are just getting started,”. He further added that billions of photos are being shared on Google’s social network and a lot of people who didn’t know about Google+ a while ago, are now active members on the site.

Larry Page added that,”We are still at the very early stages of what technology can deliver, and the tools that we use online will look very different in five years time and we are building these tools into Google-plus.”

Google+ went live this September and was previously invite only. Even in its field trial stage, it made a record of grabbing 20 million users and that too in the first 2 weeks of its launch. Google+ is currently the top rival of the social networking giant Facebook and it was dubbed by many as ‘Facebook Killer’ after seeing its initial success.

But sadly, after some time, some reports started claiming that Google+ is loosing traffic and that may be a negative sign for the website. Larry Page too only talked about the number of members and didn’t talk about the traffic Google+ was getting.

What we can say at this point is that Google+ still has a huge distance to cover as its rival is constantly launching new services and features to woo its members. As a result, Facebook users are not tempted much by any other social networking site.
